Distributed Co-ordination of Steel-making Operations for Reduced Production Stoppages

چکیده
This paper reports on the development of algorithms for factory decisionmaking and scheduling systems. The particular decision-making and schedule coordination problem studied relates to the synchronisation of a series of events in the context of a production changeover in electric arc steel-making. The paper explores two distributed approaches to this co-ordination problem. The first is a simple manual algorithm that helps co-ordinate the behaviour of steel-plant production via (i) the exchange of relevant inter-unit process information and by (ii) recommending operators take appropriate local actions. The second approach provides a framework for a more general class of problems, and supports either a partially or fully automated co-ordination approach. It is based on an approach from the field of distributed artificial intelligence, referred to as Partial Global Planning (Durfee 1988).

A New Approach for Determination of Break Points for Protection Co-Ordination
Interconnected power system networks are multi loop structured. Settings determination of all over current and distance relays in such networks can be in different forms and complicated. The main problem is the determination of starting points i.e. the location of starting relays in the procedure for settings, which is referred to as break points. In this paper, a new approach based on graph th...

Social Policy is the government decisions on distribution of resources and facilities for achieving a certain goal in a particular period of time. These decisions are aimed at increasing the society members’ well-being and/or solving a social problem. Harmony in section and inter-section policy making provides social order which is necessary as the basis for achieving the social system objectiv...

متن کاملUtilizing information and knowledge models to support global manufacturing co-ordination decisions
In recent years, researchers have devoted great attention to global manufacturing co-ordination (GMC). The focus of GMC is on integrating the activities across both functions (supply, manufacturing, distribution) and geographic areas, that is not only on synchronising and smoothing production operations but also on product shifting. Successful international co-ordination and collaboration requi...
متن کاملUsing Scrap Tires in EAFs as a Substitute for Carbon
EAF plants normally consume coal and coke as reactants, alloying elements, or fuel. The price of these materials varies from € 0.20-0.35/kg. This is while nearly 10 million pieces of tires are annually discarded in Iran. The present study shows that scrap tires can be used as a substitute for coal and coke in EAF plants. Thirteen grades of steel including low, medium, and high carbon steels as ...
